Turn the plastic "trash" into oil !!!!!!!
Put plastic back into the oil it came from.
Not surprised by this at all, just a case of Japanese ingenuity and perseverance. What a concept to have one in every home instead of a trash compactor! Better yet, find a way to stop packaging everything in plastic.
The audio is in Japanese but reading the subtitles explains everything. What a great discovery!

Enthusiasm is Building for November 15th Texas Recycles Day
Literally building, piles of recyclables already received on the wrong date! Okay, mark your calendar. Keep Carrollton Beautiful’s Texas Recycles Day is Saturday,November 15th from 9:00 to 1:00 in Newman Smith’s parking lot.
Boy Scout Troop 787 has already pitched in to properly dispose of the dumped recyclables. Even on Sunday, they were there, willing to help using their troop’s trailer to transport all the stuff to the proper recycler. “I don’t know what I would have done with all the stuff if they hadn’t volunteered. Every time we work with Troop 787, they show us what wonderful scouts they are”, said Sharon Goddard.
Help yourself have more space and a clear conscious; dispose of all your stuff in the proper way. Clean out your closets – any old electronics hiding there or clothes you no longer wear? What about your drawers – any cell phones or eye glasses no longer in use? Clear out your bookshelves – any unwanted, outgrown or already read books you could donate? Clean out your garage, shed, backyard – get rid of old tires, scrap metal, appliances!
Bring it all to Texas Recycles Day and breathe a sigh of relief in all the new space you have! Their vendors will be recycle: computers, electronics, monitors, fax machines, printers (no TV’s); car tires, car batteries; cell phones and lap tops ( all year long); knitting yarn; eye glasses and accessories; durable medical equipment – braces, crutches, canes, chairs, beds; gently used clothes for children and adults; gently used books, used athletic shoes for refurbishing or reuse; “white metal” (appliances without Freon), scrap metal, etc.; personal document shredding; and office paper. Keep Carrollton Beautiful will make sure none of it goes to the landfill.
Just think how much energy and resources we’ll save. Recycling steel each year saves enough energy to power Los Angeles for eight years. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours. Each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. Let’s all be part of the environmental solution.
Since they are only using high school volunteers for this event, please register your group at www.KeepCarrolltonBeautiful.org. If you’d like to circulate a flier at your workplace or neighborhood, email sharon@KeepCarrolltonBeautiful.org or go to the Forms section of the website.

Keep Carrollton Beautiful is a catalyst and community liaison making Carrollton a cleaner and more beautiful place. Keep Carrollton Beautiful is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, dedicated to engage Carrollton to enhance our community environment.
Since 2004, we have held 49 public events utilizing 5,400 volunteers. Our programs funnel energy and money into community improvement in partnership with Carrollton’s public, private and civic groups. Our leadership is a volunteer Board who work in all aspects of the community.
Sharon is a third generation Carrolltonite who has spent the last five years creating community in Carrollton. She believes:
“America is in a crisis. We're in a very Un-American jam. We are doing a very poor job educating all our children; the drop-out rate is very high -- with the weather changing in much of the world to flood and/or drought; the devastation of global warming is getting clearer -- the unemployment rate is raising the numbers of "working poor".
All the change we need is in the average citizens' hands. Historically, citizen leadership is the only way anything in America has ever changed. Everyone needs to do their part at home and at work. It's up to all of us to be the best of America.”

LIVE GREEN Carrollton!
After spending thirty years as an interior designer, I understand waste. “It’s ours, we don’t want anyone else to have it; put it in the landfill.” “That old thing, why would I want to reupholster it?” “That was my grandmothers, refinishing it would never make it nice enough to go with my new things.” I just couldn’t do it anymore.
I’ve been a proponent of the Earth ever since I can remember. My Dad used to take us out all the time. Just park the car along the highway, go under the barbed wire and walk up to the house to ask the owner’s permission to show his kids the wonders of nature. Being there was the magic. Surrounded by nature and sounds and smells, we learned the names of trees, flowers and animals. He talked about their habits and who would eat who – all the important stuff. We were hooked.
Since starting Keep Carrollton Beautiful in 2004, we’ve had a myriad of goals. With our new board of directors, we’re on to something that makes a lot of sense. We’ve always educated the public about environmental issues, but there are so many! Now we are taking federal, state, regional and city environmental goals and simplifying them into everyday actions to preserve our AIR, our LAND, our WATER and our COMMUNITY. Breaking it down into ways to LIVE GREEN helps everyone understand that there’s something they can do to be part of the planetary solution.
Felicia Weiss in a recent issue of the Holistic Networker summed up our thoughts. She said, “I recently saw "The 11th Hour", a film produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio… Over 50 leading scientists, thinkers and leaders present the facts and discuss the most important issues that face our planet. I found this film to be a wake up call to all of us about what is happening to the home we share…It is so easy to believe that our individual actions…don't make a difference…Yet, multiply these actions by 365 days in a year and by billions of people and I'm sure you get the picture.”
You and I and every citizen can make a difference. We can preserve our AIR quality by combining our errand trips and driving less. We can plant a tree to absorb the carbon dioxide we generate. We can preserve our LAND by practicing “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rebuy” and find a proper receptacle to dispose of trash. We can preserve our WATER quality by being chemical-free in our yards, composting all our waste. We can invigorate our COMMUNITY by becoming knowledgeable about what is going on and voting in favor of positive change. We can also volunteer for organizations that are improving our surroundings. The little steps go on and on.
Our most recent action is to make plastic bags obsolete in Carrollton with reusable grocery bags. They are green, strong, washable, made from recycled material, have our logo on them and reduce the need for plastic. Our new board of directors’ treasurer, Kris Marohn, says it perfectly, “By using this (our) bag, you will preserve our natural resources, reduce land fill, prevent the untimely death of marine animals, wildlife and birds and help to keep Carrollton beautiful.”
Make your own decision to be part of the solution for your community, your state, your country and your world. The Internet is filled with easy ways to help get carbon emissions under control. Choose some for your LIVE GREEN life!

Great Job Carrollton!
The citizens of Carrollton really did a wonderful job diverting recyclables for Texas Recycles Day. With the help of Keep Carrollton Beautiful, more than 200 volunteers got a cute t-shirt, had fun serving the community on a beautiful day and ate a lot of pizza. And with the help of eight recycling vendors and the City, Carrollton diverted 30,000 pounds of recyclables from the landfill.
The Carrollton Evening Lions Club collected eyeglasses and reusable medical equipment. “Close Knit” (Senior Center) collected knitting yarn. Dallas Computer Parts collected electronics and with the help of the City of Carrollton, computer monitors. Firestone on Old Denton Road collected car tires and car batteries. Keep Carrollton Beautiful collected cell phones and lap tops. PTA Council “Clothes Closet” collected gently used clothing and shoes. And Triple A Recycling collected scrap metal and appliances.
Keep Carrollton Beautiful educates about environmental issues including the 4R’s and reached a lot of people on Texas Recycles Day. They reduced our landfill tipping fees. They reused lots of clothes. They recycled what couldn’t be reused. And they encouraged everyone to rebuy recycled material goods by selling their reusable grocery bags.
Of course, Keep Carrollton Beautiful couldn’t do it without the support of great in-kind donors like Newman Smith High School, Domino’s Pizza, Tom Thumb, Kroger and Albertsons. Or without the support of their sponsors like Carrollton Evening Lions Club and Trinity Medical Center.
If you’d like to help close the loop, go to www.KeepCarrolltonBeautiful.org and buy your own reusable grocery bags. The bags are made from recycled material, very strong and washable. They work better than plastic bags because they hold more. The reusable grocery bags are green and have Keep Carrollton Beautiful’s logo on them. When you use them, everyone will see that you are part of the solution.
“It’s our intention to teach everyone about reduce, reuse, recycle, rebuy. Our reusable grocery bags are great symbols of stepping forward to support that cause,” said Sharon Goddard. “I personally would like to make plastic bags obsolete in Carrollton.”
